Wellbeing month: 10 tips for digital detox

Let’s reconnect with what matters this National Wellbeing Month!

In a world that never stops scrolling, sometimes the most radical act of self-care is… doing nothing at all. This National Wellbeing Month, we’re inviting you to pause. To power down. To step away from the screens and lean into the quiet.
Think of it as a gentle digital detox: an invitation to reconnect with yourself, your space, and the moments that matter most.

Try Setting Screen-Free Boundaries in Your Day

A digital detox doesn’t have to be extreme. It’s the micro-moments that matter, like tiny shifts that help you reclaim your attention, calm your nervous system, and find more space to breathe.

Here are some simple, screen-free boundaries to gently bring presence back into your day:

    Wake Up Without Wi-Fi

Start your day tech-free for the first 30 minutes.
Leave your phone on airplane mode or in another room. Instead, open a window, light a candle, stretch. Let your morning begin slowly - anchored in breath, light, and intention rather than notifications.

    Designate ‘No Phone’ Zones

Pick one room in your home where screens are simply not allowed.
The bedroom is a great place to start. Make it a true sanctuary—filled with soft textures, gentle lighting, and calming aromas. No scrolling, just stillness.

    Unplug to Power Down

Set a screen curfew at least one hour before bed.
Dim the lights, spritz a calming mist, light your favourite scent. Let your body know it’s time to rest. Swapping blue light for candlelight is one of the most underrated forms of self-care.

Choose one window of time each week

It could be an afternoon, a morning, or even a full day - where you go completely offline. No social media, no emails, no pressure. Just space.

    Create New Off-Screen Practices

    Create a Morning Ritual

Choose one nourishing practice to begin your day:
→ Open your window and stretch
→ Take a deep breath and enjoy the morning light on your face
→ Make a cup of tea mindfully
    → Journal a few lines
→ Sit with a calming scent
→ Step outside, even just to feel the air

These small rituals ground you in the now, and set the tone for a day that feels yours. To find more ideas, please read our slow mindful mornings blog.

Take a Lunchtime Scroll Break (Without Scrolling)

Step away from your desk. Leave your phone behind.
Go for a walk. Cook something simple. Sit outside, if you can. Just 15–30 minutes of offline time during the day can help reset your focus and elevate your mood.

    Practice Self-Care

Practicing self-care is another way to integrate new rituals to reduce stress and boost your mental health. Find in our blog 5 simple self-care practices a few ideas on how to incorporate it in your life.
